A tiger at rest, forepaws stretched ahead, tail folded round its haunches, hand-carved from a single piece of water-clear quartz. Light travels straight through the body and gathers at the edges, so the outline brightens against a dark ground while faint grey veils drift within, like smoke. Fine incised lines ruffle the shoulder and flank, reading as fur against the polished planes of back and legs. Unmounted, it stands steady on its flattened belly. The veils within belong to this rough alone — no second carving would repeat them.
